Surrender Process

The decision to rehome your Dane can be a traumatic process for all involved. Our volunteer evaluators have years of experience assessing  Great Dane temperament and behavior. Whenever possible, we offer resources and guidance to help your Dane remain in your home. If that simply will not work, we seek to match your Dane with the most appropriate foster or forever home.

We are able to offer recommendations aimed at ensuring the safety of you, your family and your Dane. In some cases - particularly those dealing with severe aggression - there may be legal limits to what assistance we can provide.

Families who surrender and those who adopt receive our support as we facilitate a safe and positive transition. Through ongoing follow-up, we become a long-term partner in the rehabilitation process. Please e-mail us to set up a consultation at surrenders@gdrne.org.
